At Baselworld 2017 Rolex presented the latest version of the Yacht-Master 2 (actually of course Yacht-Master II… we write “2”, because this is the more frequently used search term). Introduced in 2007, the professional regatta chronograph has undergone a facelift and is now equipped with a revised dial and new hands.

To improve legibility, the new dial has a triangular hour mark at the twelve o’clock position and a rectangular hour mark at the six o’clock position. And from now on the Yacht-Master 2 also carries the typical Rolex Mercedes hour hand, which stands out even more clearly from the minute hand due to its illuminated disc.

The Yacht-Master 2 is one of the professional models of the Swiss company and features an adjustable countdown with mechanical memory and flyback function developed by Rolex. The ease of use despite its high technical complexity is crucial for the practical suitability of this tool. This is the only way to ensure precise timing during the tense regatta start phase. The countdown can be programmed from one to ten minutes, which is stored mechanically and can then be synchronized”in flight” with the official countdown of the regatta.

The connection between Rolex and the world of sailing looks back on a long history, several of the most renowned regattas and ocean races in the world are sponsored by the company.

Like all Rolex watches, the sail chronograph is certified as a “superlative chronometer”, its robust Oyster case ensures maximum durability and guaranteed water resistance to a depth of 100m.
