Rolex has finally reissued the classic! The GMT-Master 2, Rolex’s legendary pilot’s watch, is now available as a stainless steel version with the innovative ceramic bezel in traditional red and blue, the color combination of the original 1955 GMT-Master. Two other material variants were also recently presented at Baselworld 2018 with a black and brown bezel. And nearly even more striking: from now on the GMT-Master 2 is worn on a five-row Jubilee band. But that was not all!
From now on, Rolex names its stainless steel components “Oyster-Steel”, so too the new GMT-Master 2 bracelet.
The five-row Jubilee bracelet is a little unusual on the model, on the other hand of course, it is an elegant classic with tradition … which is now available for the first time with Oysterlock clasp including the Easylink extension. By the way, the model does not exist with the usual Oyster band.
The Oyster case still measures 40 millimeters in diameter, but its lugs and sides have been redesigned. (… The lugs and sides of its Oyster case have been redesigned …) See here for all the new variants of the GMT-Master 2:
But the changes in the model are not limited to externals. The time zone manager has also received a new mechanism, bringing the technical features of the GMT Master 2 up to date. While the 3186 caliber still works in the older models, Rolex now introduces the caliber 3285 with the new watch. For this, ten patents were registered, with which precision and robustness could be further improved according to own data.
In terms of price, the new models are as follows: The stainless steel version of the GMT-Master 2 with red and blue bezel and Jubilee bracelet costs 8,550 euros. The Rolesor variant in Oystersteel and Everose gold is 13,000 euros and in complete Everose gold it is 33,900 euros.
